Janice I. Shafer

Janice I. Shafer, 63, of 8690 Heckman Rd., Meadville, died Thursday, February 24, 2005 at Meadville Medical Center following a period of declining health.

She was born in McKean September 4, 1941, a daughter of Arthur and Mary Mitchell Caldwell.  She married Thomas T. Shafer July 31, 1965.

She was a 1959 graduate of Cambridge Springs High School.  She was a homemaker who enjoyed crafts and especially being with her family.

Survivors, in addition to her husband of 39 years, include 3 daughters, Peggie Sinnott and her husband Kevin of Erie; Patti Maynard and her husband Mark of Meadville; and Sandri Nickoson and her husband Kristoffer of Meadville; 1 son, Thomas D. Shafer of Guys Mills; her mother, Mary Caldwell of Cambridge Springs; 6 brothers, Ronald Caldwell of Stillwater, PA; Gary Caldwell of Lake Forest, CA; Richard Caldwell of West Springfield; Eugene Caldwell of Cambridge Springs; Keith Caldwell of Erie; and Doug Caldwell of Saegertown; and 16 grandchildren.

Calling hours will be Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

A funeral service will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Dr. Terry Clark, Pastor of First Christian Church officiating.

Interment will be in Watson Run Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
