Joann C. Sasse, 86, of Stoneboro passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Orchard Manor on August 2, 2025. Joann was born to Martin and Helen Kristyak on November 14, 1938. Joann worked at the former Sandy Lake Diner and Howard Johnson of Mercer before becoming a full time mother.
Joann was of the Christian faith. She enjoyed crocheting beautiful blankets and gifts for her family and friends. Joann was often doing some type of craft, and if she was not doing that she was in the kitchen baking some delicious goodies. Her “garage key” cookies, chocolate-filled cookies, and chocolate chip cookies are going to be incredibly missed. Joann was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, always being there for her family when she was needed.
Joann is survived by her children, Norman C. (Karen) Sasse, of Tucson, AZ, Ronald H. (Carla) Sasse, of Sandy Lake, Frederick M. (Robin) Sasse, of Sandy Lake, Bonnie J. Sasse, of Stoneboro and Helen F. (Jimmy) Arbogast, of Sandy Lake; her grandchildren, Morgan Sasse, Kelly (Ryan) Corbin, Chelsea Cosgrove, Jazmyne (Derek) Shaffer, Jaeda Sasse, Kyle (Kendra Vivian) Arbogast and Alexa(Ransom) Ohle ; her great-grandchildren, Hunter Corbin and Aubree Corbin, Leo and Zoe Shaffer, and Mykinzie Arbogast; her siblings, Mike (Mary) Kristyak of Mercer and Edith (David) Dunwoody of Grove City, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Joann was preceded in death by her siblings; William (Helen) Woodward, Ralph (Barbara) Laffler, Mary Donnelly, Wayne (Margie) Cramer, Martin T. “Tom” Kristyak, David (Valerie) Kristyak, John (Ruth) Kristyak and two infant siblings.
Funeral arrangements have been made to Rose and Black Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 99 Franklin St. Stoneboro, PA 16153. There will be no public services in accordance with Joann’s wishes.
