John M. Peters, 80, of Meadville, died Friday, March 31, 2000 at Meadville Medical Center following a 6-weeks illness.
He was born in Hayfield Township, Crawford Co., March 8, 1920, a son of Leslie and Jennie Wasson Peters. He married Myrtle Dillaman June 2, 1941. She survived.
He was a 1936 graduate of Ludlowville, NY public schools. He attended mechanics school in Georgetown, NY and was a veteran of World War II with the US Army serving in Europe. He was a farmer in Summerhill Township for many years and he worked for Stam Tool Co. for 15 years retiring in 1982. He also worked as a tax preparer for 30 years. He was a member of Hamlin Chapel United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed traveling, camping and was a devoted family man and doing grandfather.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, Myrtle, include a daughter, Joanne Peters of Erie; a son, Clark Peters (Beth) of North East; a sister, Margaret White of Newark, OH and two granddaughters, Sarah and Laura Peters. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd and Robert Peters and a sister, Harriett Peters.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in North East Cemetery, North East, PA.
