John "Jeff" Shryock

Jeff 84, of Meadville, died peacefully at home on Monday, September 29, 2025 surrounded by his family after a brief illness.

He was born in Meadville on April 29, 1941, to John M and Carmon E (Crandall) Shryock. He was a 1959 graduate of Meadville High School. On May 11, 1963, he married his high school sweetheart, Louise A. Rossi. She proceeded him in death on November 9, 2006.

After high school he worked at the former Volkswagen dealership which was located on Smock Highway. He later became employed has a conductor with the Erie Lackawanna Railroad which eventually became known as Conrail.

Jeff retired from Conrail after many years of service. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, reading, watching NASCAR races and traveling. Some of his favorite travel destinations were Australia, Bora Bora, Jerusalem and Israel. He was a member of the VFW, ICC and past member of the Meadville Club, Elks and Eagles. In later years, he enjoyed and appreciated the daily help and loving care he received from his daughter.

Survivors include his 2 children, James C. Shryock and Suzanne L. Shryock McFadden both of Meadville: 2 grandchildren, Alexis (Chad Janos) McFadden of Wexford, PA and Alivia McFadden of Pittsburgh, PA and one great-grand child, Camden Jeffrey Janos of Wexford, PA.

Additionally, he is survived by one sister, Constance D. (Shryock) Jenks of Jacksonville, Florida and one nephew, Andrew (Jill) Jenks also of Jacksonville, Florida. Jeff is also survived by many cousins.

Funeral arrangements will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at St. Brigid Cemetery in Meadville. Arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Waid Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.
