Joseph A. Sechler

August 9, 1947 — November 18, 2025

Joseph A. Sechler, Jr., Stoneboro, Pa passed away Tuesday (11-18-25) in Butler Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. He was 78.

Joe was born August 9, 1947 in Franklin, Pa to Joseph A. and Myrtle K. (Doutt) Sechler, Sr.

He was a 1965 graduate of Franklin High School and was retired from PennDot after many years of service.

Joe was a lover of the outdoors and over the years enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid golfer and a very proficient bowler for many years. He enjoyed watching sports on television, especially the Pittsburgh teams.

Most of all he loved his time spent with family, especially his granddaughters who fondly called him “Pappy”.

He married Betty J. Whitehouse on February 2, 1985 and she preceded him in death February 7, 2012. He is survived by a daughter Lisa L. (Wes) Sefton, two granddaughters: Abigail and Amber Sefton; also a sister Judy A. (Ralph) Readel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, Daniel Sechler, and two nephews: Jeff Readel and Jeff “Chowder” Reiser.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 99 Franklin Street, STONEBORO where family and friends are welcome on Thursday, November 20, 2025 from 4 – 6 PM. A funeral service will follow at 6 PM in the funeral home.

Interment will take place at Center Cemetery, Polk, PA.
