Kenneth E. Steele

Kenneth E. Steele, 77, formerly of Meadville and a resident of the Crawford Co. Care Center since April 1995, died there Saturday, July 24, 1999.

He was born in Meadville, August 3, 1921, a son of Walter and Alice Gill Steele.  He married Frances Britton January 18, 1942 and she preceded him in death October 15, 1994.

He retired from American Viscose Corp. as a beam repairman after 40 years of service.

He was a veteran of World War II with the US Army.  He received four Bronze Stars for his service in Europe during the war.  He was a life member of VFW Post #2006.  He enjoyed bowling, fishing, woodworking and his family.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Jack (Sandra) Wentworth of Meadville, Linda Marie Welsh of Meadville and Carol Ann Steele of Meadville; a brother, Glenn Steele of McKean; four grandchildren, Debra Custard, Devin Wentworth, Jennifer Calvert and Kimberly Powell; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Chester Steele and two infant sisters.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Cochranton Cemetery.
