Leora M. Getty

Leora M. Getty, 85, a Woodcock Twp. Resident for many years, and a resident of Crawford County Care Center since May 1991, died there Thursday March 7, 2002, after a period of declining health.

She was born in Meadville, April 2, 1916, a daughter of the late Orville & Alice Mabel Reichel Maloney.  She married James H. Getty, June 27, 1941, and he died Nov. 30, 1982.

She was a 1934 graduate of Cambridge Springs High School, and a graduate of the Cleveland Beauty Academy.  She had operated her own beauty shop in Saegertown prior to her marriage.  She was a dedicated homemaker and was involved in the activities of her children and supported her husband in his construction business.  She particularly enjoyed needle-work and antiques.

She was a member of Twelve Apostles Lutheran Church of Saegertown.

Survivors include 1 daughter, Alice Dalmaso, Saegertown, 2 sons, James O. Getty, Scottsdale, AZ, and Richard E. Getty and his wife Ijenna, Saegertown, 2 grandchildren, Jay Dalmaso and Morgan Getty, 1 brother, Neil Maloney, Venango, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Catherine Tucker, and Marion Fenstermaker.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m., at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc. 581 Chestnut St.

The funeral service will be Monday at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. Gretchen Fornof, pastor of Twelve Apostles Lutheran Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Saegertown Cemetery.
