July 8, 1947 — November 22, 2025

Meadville

Linda K. Litzinger of Meadville, age 78, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 22, 2025, after several years of declining health, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family.

Linda Kay Nosker was born July 8, 1947, in Titusville, the daughter of George James Nosker, Jr. and Evelyn Elverna (Kightlinger) Nosker.

She graduated from Pleasantville Joint High School in 1965.

She attended Bryant & Stratton Business Institute in Buffalo, NY in 1966, where she was certified in Advanced Secretarial Science.

She married John Eugene Litzinger on May 20, 1967, in Titusville. They moved to San Angelo, TX, where John was stationed with the United States Air Force. They then moved to Fairbanks, AK where they lived for seven years. Her love of Alaska persisted throughout her life, and she happily was able to return to visit on several later occasions. While living in Alaska, she worked as a secretary for L.K. Virgin Insurance Agency, the University of Alaska Cooperative Extension Office, and the University of Alaska Institute of Marine Science.

Linda and John moved back to Pennsylvania in November of 1974. They settled down in Meadville, where Linda worked at Allegheny College as the Secretary to the Dean of Students under Jonathan Helmreich.

She left Allegheny College when her first son, Michael John Litzinger, was born in 1978. Her second son, Mark James Litzinger, was born in 1984. She was a devoted and tireless mother, ensuring her children (and later her grandchildren) were able to participate in multiple activities and given every opportunity to pursue their interests.

She instilled a love of animals and music in her sons and reflected with pride upon their accomplishments. She was often referred to by friends of her sons as a “second mom” and they often spoke fondly of her over the years.

Once her children grew older, Linda returned to work at Option Care, which later merged with Vantage Home Health. She left there to return to Allegheny College, where she worked in the Office of Community Service and Service Learning and the International Office, where it brought her great satisfaction to interact with and assist the students of the university. She retired in 2014, looking forward to spending more time with family and pursuing her own interests.

She adored her grandchildren, often spoiling them with gifts and candy despite the protestations of their parents.

Linda was an avid reader and photographer, and used her love of both to pursue extensive research into genealogy. She documented her family history going back generations, proudly sharing that work with her children and grandchildren. She also loved travelling to book and craft shows with her longtime friend Roseann Monti, weekly film nights at the theater with her friends, watching cooking and game shows, and jewelry making. She treasured most in life the relationships she cultivated with everyone; family, friend or stranger. She was widely known for her kindness, generosity, and the joy she brought to all who were fortunate enough to know her.

She is survived by her husband John of 58 years, her children Michael and Mark and their wives Heather and Charlotte, her grandchildren Clayton, Cerese, Cassidy, Gemma and Gideon Litzinger, her step-grandchildren Hezekiah, Noah and Abigail Stump, her sister-in-law Marie Nosker, and her brother-in-law Sam Litzinger and his wife Laura King.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Wayne Paul Nosker.
