Louis S. McCleery, 88, of Meadville, a retired railroad clerk, died Thursday, January 16, 1992, at Meadville Medical Center after a brief illness.
He was born in Bradleytown, Venango County, October 4, 1903, a son of Smith and Emma Stainbrook McCleery. He married Florence E. Smith, September 1, 1941. She survives.
He retired in 1968 from Conrail where he had worked as chief clerk to the trainmaster. He was a member of First Christian Church and its Loyal Men's Bible Class. He attended Allegheny College before graduating from Tulsa Business College, Tulsa, OK. He was an avid sportsman, participating in golf, bowling, hunting and fishing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a sister, Mae Powell of Tulsa and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Leda Simmons and two brothers, Glenn and Earl McCleery.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
