Louise P. Short

Louise P. Short, 93, formerly of 226 Grandview Ave., Meadville, and currently residing with her son in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, died Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at her residence.

She was born April 21, 1911 in Smith Township, Washington Co., a daughter of the late Thomas H. and Allie R. Hemphill Pyle.  She married Clayton George who preceded her in death.  She subsequently married George P. Schmidt who preceded her in death.  She subsequently married John P. Short June 19, 1976 and he preceded her in death October 2, 2003.

She worked for 15 years as a nurse’s aid at Greenville Hospital and the former Meadville City Hospital, retiring in 1972.  She was an active volunteer with several organizations over the years.  Prior to moving to Palm Beach Gardens, she enjoyed wintering there after retirement.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Survivors, include 2 sons, George P. Schmidt of Spokane, Wash. And Thomas P. Schmidt of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; a daughter, Judith Ann Schmidt of Meadville; a sister, Grace Petrucci of Burgettstown; 5 grandchildren, John and Scott Morrow, Susan Morrow Maxwell, Louise Bliss, and Stephen Schmidt; 5 great-grandchildren, Jack and Chase Maxwell, Amanda Bliss, and Tommy and Sonny Morrow; and nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jacqueline Darlene Morrow; 3 sisters, Mary Young, Dorothy Chambon, and Catherine Ashton; and 3 brothers, George, Howard, and Thomas Pyle.

Calling hours are Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

A funeral service will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Haugh, Pastor of St. Mark’s United Church of Christ and the Rev. Sarah Roncolato, Pastor of Grace United Methodist Church officiating.

Entombment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
