Marjorie Ann Raymond, of Mill Street, Sandy Lake, passed away peacefully in the early morning of July 12, surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 25, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Ruth Ann (Gribble) Ackerman.
A proud graduate of Sandy Lake High School, Class of 1949, Marjorie went on to earn her teaching degree from Slippery Rock University in 1953. She dedicated her life to children and education, teaching for three years at Mercer School District before joining Lakeview School District, where she taught elementary students until her retirement in 1991.
On April 14, 1954, she married her high school classmate and the love of her life, Donald Raymond (proceeded in death). Together, they built a beautiful life rooted in faith, family, and community.
Marjorie was deeply involved in many organizations. She was a former member of the Rainbow Girls, a Past Matron and District Deputy of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a proud member of the Delta Kappa Gamma sorority. A devoted member of Sandy Lake Presbyterian Church, she served faithfully as both elder and deacon throughout the years. Marjorie loved her community and was a friend to many. She truly lived life to the fullest and leaves behind a legacy of strength and dedication.
She enjoyed reading novels, knitting, playing cards, roller skating, bowling, shopping, traveling -especially to Florida and Europe, and of course Marjorie always loved keeping an eye on the Mill. She had a special fondness for monarch butterflies, taking a trip to Mexico to see where they migrate to, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and closest friends.
Marjorie is survived by her beloved son, Brian (Lisa) Raymond; her cherished grandchildren, Susan (Dion) and Adam (Stephanie); and her six great-grandchildren she adored: Madison and Mackenzie (Cranberry Township), Lily (University of Alabama), Luke (Penn State University), Emmy (University of Pittsburgh), and Addison (Lakeview High School).
