Marshall “Scott” DeRemer, 49, of 13260 Wing Rd., Conneautville, died Thursday, May 11, 2006 at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born in Meadville March 8, 1957, a son of the late William Edward and Lillian Bigusiak DeRemer. He married Kathy Baranyai June 12, 1994 and she survives.
He was a 1975 graduate of Conneaut Valley High School and a 1979 graduate of Edinboro University with a degree in criminal justice. He subsequently graduated from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officer Training Class. He currently worked at Hovis Auto Supply and the Pennsylvania Driver’s License Training Center, both of Meadville. He worked in law enforcement for many years as a West Mead Township and Linesville Borough police officer. He also previously worked as a corrections officer for Crawford County, as a salesman for Advantage Auto, and at Geneva Truck and Equipment.
He was of the Catholic faith.
He was a member of the Hunting and Fishing Club, Cambridge Springs American Legion, and the Norrisville and Meadville Sportsman’s Clubs. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, shooting, riding his tractor, was a civil war enthusiast, and loved his pets and especially his family.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include 3 sons, Tim Hannigan and his wife Janeen of Pittsburgh; Brian Hannigan of Norfolk, VA; and Michael Hannigan of Wichita, KS; a sister, Darcel L. (Darcee) Deeter and her husband William of Meadville; a brother, William A. DeRemer and his wife Diane of Meadville; his mother-in-law, Eleanor Bastian of Canadohta Lake; 2 granddaughters, Haley and Briania Hannigan; 3 nieces, Cherié, Jackie, and Meghan DeRemer; and a nephew, Justin Deeter.
Calling hours will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Chapel, Canadohta Lake with Fr. Jerry Priscaro as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Theresa Cemetery, Union City.
