Martha Elizabeth (Betty) Lyons

Martha Elizabeth (Betty) Lyons, 76, of Meadville, and formerly of Maywood, NJ, died Friday, July 14, 2000, at her residence following a period of declining health.

She was born in Nyack, NY, November 9, 1923, a daughter of James A. G. and Julia V. Cooney Kerr.  She married John Lawrence Lyons, Jr. September 27, 1952.  He preceded her in death November 9, 1985.

She was a 1942 graduate of Hasbrouck Heights High School, Bergen County, NJ.  She was a homemaker and worked as a librarian's assistant for 10 years at the Maywood Public Library, retiring in 1989.

She was a former member of the Happy Times Senior Citizens Group in Maywood.  She was a former member of NOLA - Never Alone Again, a widow/widowers group in Maywood.

She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading mysteries and doing crossword puzzles.

She was a member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church.

Survivors include a son, John P. Lyons of Meadville; a daughter, Kathleen M. Lyons of Meadville; two grandsons, Sean M. and Christopher J. Lyons; and a brother, James W. Kerr of Pittsfield, MA.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Hackensack Cemetery, Hackensack.
