Mattie Oakes Gilbert

Mrs. Mattie Oakes Gilbert, 83, of Rome Township, Guys Mills, died Saturday, January 9, 1960, at her home following a long illness.

She was born September 18, 1876, in Wayne Township, a daughter of Ezra and Charlotte McIlory Oakes.  On October 25, 1898, she married Clinton W. Gilbert who died April 29, 1939.

She was a member of Guys Mills Methodist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Miss Marian G. Gilbert at home and Mrs. O. A. (Ruth) Ewing of Erie; two sons, Kenneth O. and Karl C., both at home, and eight grandchildren.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Union Cemetery, Guys Mills.
