Merl R. Sippy

Merl R. Sippy, 71, of Meadville, died Friday, July 21, 1989, at Meadville Medical Center following a short illness.

He was born in Akron, IN, October 11, 1918, a son of Robert A. and Ina M. Floor Sippy.  He married Violet Robertson on August 15, 1987.  She survives.

He was a retired Erie Railroad employed.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Venus, FL.  He also was a member of Meadville Elks Lodge 219; Masonic Lodge 408, Meadville; Solomon Lodge 191; NW Commandery Chapter 25; Zem Zem Temple, Erie; and American Legion.  He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Army.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Richard Dirk Sippy of Painesville, OH; three stepsons, Gary P. Hatton of Coraopolis, Richard J. Hatton in West Berlin, Germany and Dale E. Hatton of Meadville; a stepdaughter, Kim L. Vargas of Clearwater, FL; his mother, of Meadville; a sister, Mrs. William (Ruby) Fugagli of Meadville; three brothers, Henry L. Sippy and Donald R. Sippy, both of Meadville and Robert A. Sippy, Jr. of Salt Lake City, UT and four step-grandchildren.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Mill Village Cemetery.
