Michael John Smith

Michael John Smith, 36, of Conneaut Lake, died Saturday, April 22, 2006 at the Meadville Medical Center.

He was born in Erie October 29, 1969 a son of John and Joan Oler Smith.

He was a 1989 graduate of Conneaut Valley High School where he played football.  Following high school he was a veteran of Desert Storm serving with the US Army 82nd Airborne Division.  He graduated from the Precision Manufacturing Institute (PMI) and worked in tool and die for various local companies, most recently being Sipco Tool and Laser Tool.

He was an avid dirt bike rider and racer, racing at Pymatuning Holeshot Raceway.  He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors, in addition to his parents John and Joan Smith of Conneautville, include: two sisters, Cindy Beil and her husband Scott of Conneautville and Julie Dubray of Rutland, VT; his paternal grandfather, Roy Smith of Beaumont, CA; three nephews, Douglas, Dustin and Jonathan Beil and five nieces, Kaitlyn and Kelly Beil and Alaura, Aimee and Alyssa Dubray.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Aurial Smith and his maternal grandparents, Loren and May Oler.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, Inc., 12422 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake.

The funeral service will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Loren Little, Pastor of Conneautville Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial with Military Honors provided by VFW Post 2006 will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Harmonsburg.
