Donald Lee Bartell Sr, age 85, of Natrona Heights, and his beloved wife, Nancy Lou (Edwards) Bartell, of Natrona Heights, age 85, both passed away of natural causes on August 4, 2025, just hours apart, at their favorite place, their camp in Sandy Lake, PA. It is fitting that they left this world together, just as they lived — side by side. Married on July 22, 1961, for 64 wonderful years they were a beautiful example of love and devotion to each other.
Don and Nancy were both known for their humor. Don was always telling stories that would keep you laughing. Nancy brought her own brand of wit to the mix, frequently cracking jokes at Don’s expense, a banter that became one of their trademarks. They both also shared a deep love for the outdoors. They spent their later years at their camp, surrounded by the nature that they adored. Their greatest joy in life though, came from being grandparents and great grandparents. You’d often find Don splashing in the pool or riding roller coasters with his grandkids. Nancy, an avid sports fan, loved watching her grandkids at sporting events and dance recitals. Together, they lived a long and fulfilling life.
They leave behind three sons, Don, Jr (Kathy) of Beaver Falls, Deron (Sandy) of Kittanning, and Drew (Maria) of Erie, Nancy’s brother Dean Edwards of Natrona Heights, Don’s brother Fred of Sarver, 8 grandchildren Chloe, Anthony, Kaysee, Hanna, Brooke, Angelica, Dominick, and Bryan, and 8 beloved great-grandchildren, who will carry forward their legacy of love and hard work. They were preceded in death by their parents, Frank and Ruth Bartell and Dory and Twila Edwards and son, Dale.
Don and Nancy taught us that life is better when shared, and their example will live on in the stories we tell and the smiles they inspired. While we will miss them beyond words, we are comforted knowing that they entered heaven alongside each other, continuing their journey together as they always did here on earth.
