Nancy Irene Saunders

Mrs. Nancy Irene Saunders, wife of C. LeRoy Saunders, of Meadville, died at Smith Institute, Saegertown, Wednesday, February 8, 1961, after a long illness.  She had lived in Meadville since she was 8 years old except for 15 years in Ohio and Indiana.

She was born at Kennard, Mercer County, February 21, 1881, a daughter of Oliver and Melissa Ellen McDowell Luse.  She and her husband were married at Meadville in 1907.

Mrs. Saunders was for several years a secretary in the county commissioners' office and was active in the Republican Party.  She was a member of Stone Methodist Church and of the Woman's Society of Christian Service of the church and a member of the Ladies Advisory Committee of City Hospital and of the Meadville Grange.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Mrs. J. H. (Eleanor) Nichols of Bay Village, OH; a granddaughter, Barbara Caroline Nichols and a grandson, Scott Sumner Nichols.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
