Nelson C. Slater, 55, of Jackson Center passed away on June 30, 2026 at home from pancreatic cancer. He was born in Greenville on July 13, 1970 to parents Samuel C. and Wanda L. (Redfoot) Slater.
He graduated from Lakeview High School in 1988 and went on to work for Voorhies and McKean’s farms and also drove a milk truck for years.
Nelson was an avid hunter and fisherman and could often be found in the woods in his free time. He also enjoyed tractor pulls and bowling.
Nelson is survived by his partner of over 20 years, Tammy Strouss, of Jackson Center; two step-daughters, Tiffany (Josh) Morris, of Fredonia, and Karen (Helen) Strouss, of Stoneboro; five grandchildren, Vincent Wolf, Zack (Tyann) Wolf, Makenna Wolf, Brody Morris, and Cora Morris; one great granddaughter, Dorothy Wolf; two sisters, Roxanna (Ken) Knauff and Tammy Slater; one brother, Jim (Shari) Slater; three nieces; and three nephews.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents; his parents; a brother, Sammy C. Slater; and other family members.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to ROSE AND BLACK FUNERAL HOME, 99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date with inurnment in Hadley Cemetery.
