Norman E. Sippel, 82, of Conneaut Lake, died Sunday, May 7, 2000 at Meadville Medical Center following a period of declining health.
He was born February 6, 1918 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Albert and Clara Anna Evans Sippel. He married Geraldine A. Froehlich November 23, 1960. She survives.
He was a graduate of South Hills High School, Pittsburgh and a US Army Veteran of World War II, having served from 1939 to 1950. He served at the Battle of Normandy and received the Liberty Medal from France in 1999. He was a recipient of three Purple Hearts and served in Germany following the end of World War II. He was an appliance repairman and "Jack of all trades," retiring in 1980.
He attended Lake Lutheran Church, Conneaut Lake.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Albert Sippel.
Services were held with the Waid-Coleman Funeral Home.
Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
