Patricia J. (Allen) Zinz "Patsy"

Mar 23, 1940 — Jul 4, 2026

Franklin,PA

Patricia J. Allen Zinz “Patsy” age 86, of Franklin, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2026, in Meadville Medical Center.

She was born in Adamsville, PA on March 23, 1940, the daughter of George and Alice (Stallsmith) Allen.

Patsy was a 1957 graduate of Cochranton High School. She attended a one-room schoolhouse in Sheakleyville, where she excelled academically and even skipped the second grade. She was employed for many years as RSA at Polk Center, where she dedicated herself to caring for and supporting others.

Patsy had a lifelong love of learning and literature, she enjoyed writing poetry, reading the works of Shakespeare, and could often be found with a good book in hand and a bag of peanut M&M's nearby. Exceptionally intelligent, she loved playing trivia and amazed family and friends with her ability to answer nearly every question. Her friends also fondly remembered her wonderful sense of humor. She also enjoyed completing Cryptaquote puzzles in the newspaper.

Patsy had many passions throughout her life. She was a Past Regent of the DAR, a role that reflected her appreciation for history and her dedication to the organization. She loved listening to bagpipe music, cooking and baking award-winning recipes, and embracing new adventures. In her 50’s, she went white-water rafting and rock climbing, proving that age was never a barrier to trying something new. She cherished traveling, especially visiting her sister in Hawaii. Over the years, she also called many places home, including New Orleans, Louisiana; Traverse City, Michigan; and Annette Island, Alaska, experiences that enriched her adventurous spirit and appreciation for the world around her.

She is survived by three sons, Art Zinz of FL, Partick Zinz of Cochranton, Alex McGill (Kimberly) of Clarion; a daughter, Ruth Zinz of Franklin; seven grandchildren, Michal Zinz, Rachel Lamb, Rebekah Haney, Lexa McGill, Josiah Gayetty, Aidan McGill, Tiernan Zinz; seven great-grandchildren, Rosalie, Adelaide, Willow, Natalie, Zayne, Revel, Augustus; two sisters, Ruth Wescott of Poulsbo, WA, Alyson Betts of Cochranton, and a brother, Scott Allen of Fort Myers, FL; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, John Allen, Blake Allen, and Lenny Allen.
