R. Merle (Sid) Smith, 74, died suddenly Wednesday evening, December 28, 1966, at Spencer Hospital following a heart attack. He had made his home for the past 10 years with a sister, Mrs. Gladys Wolffe of Meadville.
Born in Blooming Valley May 4, 1892, he was a son of Frank and Lillian Briggs Smith. He had been engaged in farming at Blooming Valley until his retirement in 1956.
Mr. Smith is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Wolffe and Mrs. Charles (Daisy) Ordwein of Blooming Valley and a brother, Seldon G. Smith of Meadville.
Four sisters and a brother preceded him in death.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
