Ralph L. Heffern

Ralph L. Heffern, 92, of 21171 Blooming Valley Road, Meadville died at home Sunday, July 18, 2004.

He was born June 19, 1912 in Canal Twp., Venango Co., PA a son of Robert and Maude Reisinger Heffern.  He married D. Irene Cornell April 26, 1939 and she preceded him in death March 21, 2002.

He retired in 1973 as a welder in the welding department at Talon Inc. after 39 years of service.  Previously he owned and operated Roha’s Bendix Laundry.

He was a member of Stone United Methodist Church, Meadville Eagles Aerie #429, West Mead #2 Vol. Fire Dept., life member of Vernon Vol. Fire Dept. and he was a former member and Captain of Crawford-Erie State Police Co. #21.  He was also an avid antiques collector.

Survivors, include one daughter, Eleanor Scowden and her husband James of Meadville; one sister, Betty Kinney of Spartanburg, SC; one brother, Walter Heffern of Conneaut Lake; six grandchildren, Linda Scowden, Albert Scowden, Carol Banks, Candy Hargenrater, Steve Bertschy and Kimberly Bertschy and 15 great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Lillian Bertschy and two brothers, Willis Heffern and Lawrence Heffern.

A private family service will be Tuesday at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville with the Rev. William L. Brown, Assoc. Pastor of Stone United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery.
