Rev. Stephen C. Homoki

The Rev. Stephen C. (Nevada) Homoki, 82, of Rimrock, AZ, formerly of Edinboro, died Saturday, December 1, 1984, at Marcus J. Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Cottonwood, AZ, after a sudden illness. He was born at Baker, NE, April 15, 1902, a son of Stephen and Barbara Cook Homoki. He married Esther McCurdy of Adamsville. Homoki was a long-time cowboy-missionary, first a cowboy until becoming a stuntman in the silent movies. He most notable picture was 'The Covered Wagon' made in the late 1940s. He worked his way east as a trick and fancy roper on the porfessional rodeo circuit. He attended Moody Bible Institute at Chicago and became a non-denominational minister. Since 1956, he ministered at Navajo Indians in northern Arizona and lectured and performed rodeo tricks across the US. He was a charter member of the Cowboys Turtle Assn., now known as the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Assn. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Mrs. Barbara West of Phoenix; two sons, Stephen Lee of Grand Rapids, MI and James A. of Tucson; three sisters; two brothers and twelve grandchildren.
