Robert Edward Fickes

Robert Edward Fickes, 74, of Meadville, died at home Saturday, April 1, 2000.

He was born in Ford City, PA May 1, 1925, a son of Emmit Samuel and Mary Mabel Flanders Fickes.  He married Margaret Jane Bonenburger December 18, 1948.  She survives.

He was a veteran of World War II with the US Marines seeing action in Iwo Jima.  He retired in 1983 from PPG's Meadville plant as supervisor of the Ware Room after 37 years of service.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Kathleen Ott (Richard) of Meadville; a son, Joseph R. Fickes (Donna) of Council Bluffs, IA; three brothers, three sisters, five grandchildren, Ronald Ott (Karen), Richard Ott (Melissa), Michelle Fickes, Tammy Harris and Amy Fickes, and four great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a great-grandson and two brothers.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
