Roxy Mae Ross

Roxy Mae Ross, 98, of Guys Mills, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at home into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ surrounded by her daughter, Karol and son, Tom.

Roxy was born September 28, 1923 in Exeter, CA, a daughter of John Leo and Bernice Irene Schilling Elliston.  She married John M. Ross in 1944 and he preceded her in death January 16, 1982.

Roxy was a graduate of Tulare Union High School, Tulare, CA and completed a certificate program at the 4Cs Business School in Exeter, CA.  A homemaker, during World War II, she worked for the Caterpillar Corporation as well as doing payroll work for the military.  She also worked at the central office of the city of Cleveland school district.

Roxy was a long-time attendee of Lyona Bible Church and was affiliated with Pleasantview Alliance Church.  She was an accomplished painter, primarily oil painting, was an avid reader devoted to her daily Bible readings, and enjoyed needlework and crocheting.

Survivors include a daughter, Karol L. McGowan (Ronald) of Guys Mills; a son, Thomas C. Ross of Guys Mills; seven grandchildren, Dana J. McGowan (Cyndi), Matthew Scott McGowan, Cody W. McGowan (Misty), Zachary T. Ross (Pennilyn), Shaina R. Ross, Aubrey F. Ross, and Arielle D. Ross; fifteen great-grandchildren, Brittney, Marli, Kelly, Jarod, Crystal, Erika, Emily, Analyse, Isabel, Mason, Lincoln, Haddie, Rory, Lily, and Bella; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and special friends, Anne Yoder and Janae Strickler.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John H. Ross; a sister, Gladys Myrl Harvey; and a brother, Wayne L. Elliston.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, March 15th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE where the funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with the Revs. Michael MacAdam and Glen Van Cise, co-officiating.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a missionary charity of the donor’s choice.
