Ruth J. Laubscher, Mercer, Pa, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday (9-1-25) in St. Paul’s Greenville. She was 97.
Born April 20, 1928 in Dover, Ohio, she was a daughter of Edward A. and Della I. Bailey Schindler.
Ruth graduated from Shanesville-Sugarcreek High School in 1946 and married the love of her life Robert A. Laubscher June 20, 1946 and he preceded her in death June 17, 2008.
She and Bob moved to Fairview Twp. in 1952 and then in 1957 founded the Laubscher Cheese Company. They grew the company as a wholesale business distributing all types of cheese and is still operating as a family business today.
Most of all Ruth was a homemaker and was a proud mother and grandmother with a strong devotion of taking care of her family.
She and Bob enjoyed traveling around the states and also visiting many other countries. Ruth enjoyed golfing and playing cards and was a member of a 500 card club. She also was a member of The Fairview Friendship Club for many years and also had served as a 4-H leader. She was always known as being very generous and supported many causes.
Ruth attended the Oak Grove Church, Mercer.
She is survived by her three daughters: Patricia (Mickey) Marshall, Gloria McQuaid and Connie Park. Five grandchildren: Kevin (Cathy) Watts, Shelley Watts, Shawna (Doug) Reed, Chad (Mailia) Park and Tom (Linda) Park, Jr.. Ten great-grandchildren: Katie (Patrick) Donoughe, Ashley (Justin) Smith, Collin (Aaron Barnes) Zelinsky, Garett Zelinsky, Victoria Watts, Austa (Steven Lanese) Reed, Lydia Reed, Jaiden Park, Joscelyn (Cody) Ebbert and Sydney Park and seven great-great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister Frances Walton and two sons-in-laws: Gary Watts and Tom Park.

Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday (9-5-25) and Saturday (9-6-25) 10:00 AM until time of service in the Rose & Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro.
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Saturday (9-6-25) in the funeral home with Pastor Randy Ritchey, officiating.
Interment: Oak Hill Cemetery, Sandy Lake Twp.
