Miss Ruth Scrivner, 76, of Meadville, died at Mead Nursing Home Friday, September 18, 1970, after an illness of three months. She had been a patient at the home for two weeks. Miss Scrivenr had spent the past 27 summers in Meadville with her brother, John B. Scrivner.
She was born in Richmond, KY, January 22, 1894, a daughter of Edward B. and Kathryn Prather Scrivner.
She was a graduate of State Teachers College at Richmond. She was a school teacher in Kentucky for 50 years before retiring in 1964.
Miss Scrivner was a member of First Baptist Church of Ashland and taught its Sunday school for many years.
Surviving, in addition to her brother, are three nieces, Mrs. James (Alice) Lalar of New York City; Mrs. William (Ruth) Spence of Grove City and Mrs. Robert (Mary) Evans of Escondido, CA.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Richmond Cemetery.
