Shirley A. Stewart, 79, of Sandy Lake Township joined Heaven’s Ranks on August 9, 2023 at AHN Grove City. Shirley was born to the late Frank and Beckie Getty on May 10, 1944. She attended Lakeview High School and received her GED. She worked a variety of jobs before going on to work at Polk Center, working her way up from the kitchen to the administration building.
Shirley was a shining light of love and faith wherever she went. As a single mother to three, she strived to give her children everything they needed. Her joy amplified when she met her late husband Lee E. Stewart. When they married on August 5, 1981, she became mother to three more and her family grew. They found happiness sharing time with their family and traveling the world together. Shirley lived to help others - working as a hospice volunteer, making food for Meals on Wheels, sorting clothes at the Lakeview Area Helping Hands Center, working in the kitchen, greeting families, or doing mission trips with Sandy Lake Wesleyan Church, or simply having coffee and listening to a friend. Her greatest joy in life was being able to spend time and show her love to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her children: Sherry (Frank) Krizinsky, of Polk, Lee (Lyn) Stewart, Jr., of Roanoke, VA, Doug (Sheri) Stewart, of Columbus, OH, Dawn (Kevin) Stewart-Hulsing, of Ijamsville, MD and Jeffery (Krystal) DeVault, of Sandy Lake; her grandchildren: Amber Heckathorne, Lisa Krizinsky (Jarrett Geer), Katie (Kyle) Kirby, David Stewart, Trish Gugino, Ryan Stewart, Kit (Alex) Stewart, Josh Stewart, Breauna (Kyle) Dotson, Brittany (Nathan) Deshner, Byron DeVault and Isaac DeVault; her sister, Rose Behm; and numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her son Frank DeVault.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. 99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro, PA, where visitation will be from 2 -4 pm and 6 - 8 pm on Friday, August 25, 2023.
