Thelma I. Peterson, 82, a resident of Beverly Health Care since December 2004, died there, Sunday, April 16, 2006.
She was born in Meadville, May 12, 1923 a daughter of Melvin and Lula Smock Peterson. She had been married to Clair Peterson and he preceded her in death in 1982.
She retired in 1987 from McCrosky Tool after 12 years of service and previously worked at Talon for 12 years and briefly at Cargo Cleaners.
She was a 1941 graduate of East Fallowfield High School and was a volunteer at the Senior Center. She was a social member of Eagles Lodge 429, Vernon Central Vol. Fire Dept. and VFW Post 2006. She also enjoyed bowling and dancing.
Survivors, include: two sons, Gerald “Gerry” Peterson and his wife Elaine and Gail Peterson and his wife Jan all of Meadville; one daughter, Joanne Richards and her husband Dave of Meadville; five grandchildren, Vincent Peterson, Olivia Peterson, Craig Peterson and his wife Marianne, Michele Bahurinsky and her husband Nathan and Jeremy Peterson and his wife Yvonne and two great grandchildren, Hannah Bahurinsky and Kyle Peterson.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Wesley Peterson and an infant brother.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.
The funeral and committal service will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Gerald Murphy, retired United Methodist clergyman, officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Cemetery, Greenwood Twp.
