Theodora S. Knight

Theodora S. Knight, 92, of Drexel Hill, PA, died Monday, September 24, 2001 at Lankenau Hospital, Wynnewood, PA.

She was born in Erie, September 6, 1909 a daughter of William and Clara Brown Sommer.  She married Earl Lawrence Knight and he preceded her in death in 1966.

She was a graduate of East High School in Erie and she received her BA degree from Ohio Wesleyan University.  She worked briefly as a visiting teacher in the Erie school system.

She was a member of the Drexel Hill United Methodist Church since 1945 and a Past president of its United Methodist Women and a former Sunday School teacher.  She was also a member of the Delta Theta National Sorority, the College Club of Erie, The American Assoc. of University Women, The League of Women Voters, the Drexel Hill Women’s Club, AARP Chapter #2085 and she was a Girl Scout Leader for many years in the Drexel Hill area.

Survivors, include a son, Richard Knight and his wife Judith of Penndel, PA; a daughter, Nancy Cole and her husband Robert of Yardley, PA; four grandchildren, two step grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two-step great grandchildren.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Wilhelmina Glaubach.

The funeral service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Drexel Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Herbert J. Snyder, officiating.

Local services will be Thursday with an hour of visitation from 10-11 a.m. at the Erie Cemetery Chapel with the committal services following at 11 a.m. in the Chapel with the Rev. Carl R. Hull, Pastor of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, officiating.
