Theodore B. (Ted) Sample, Jr., 76 of 9944 Franklin Pike, Meadville, died Tuesday, July 06, 2004 at Meadville Medical Center.
He was born in Meadville October 10, 1927, a son of the late Theodore and Hilda Jones Sample. He married Mary Schutz August 22, 1953.
He was a 1945 graduate of Meadville High School. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, serving from 1945 to 1948. He was a 1952 graduate of Alliance College, Cambridge Springs, receiving his degree in tool and die. He worked for 32 years as a tool and die maker at Talon, retiring in 1989.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church since 1943 and was a member of the Dan Lamb Sunday School class.
He was a member of Meadville Elks Lodge #219 and a social member of the Italian Civic Club. He enjoyed line dancing, gardening, hunting, and being outdoors.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 50 years, include a son, Scott Sample of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; a son-in-law, Michael Baird of Meadville; a grandson, Ryan Baird of Meadville; 2 sisters, Shirley G. Campbell and her husband Robert of Meadville and Patty Wright and her husband Jack of Linesville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Baird.
Calling hours are Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
A funeral service will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Sarah Roncolato, Pastor of Grace United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery with military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2006, Meadville.
