Thomas F. Ritchey, III, passed away on August 21, 2025, peacefully in his room at Concordia nursing home in Cabot, PA.
He was the son of Thomas F. Ritchey, II and Gladys Ritchey of Grove City, PA, born September 29, 1934. He graduated from Grove City High School and attended Penn State University before the onset of the Korean war. His father was the air raid warden in Grove City, PA and easily convinced him to join the Army, where he became a Corporal. After the war, he finished his studies at Grove City College, later to become a CPA. Thomas practiced accounting for various firms, moving to Meadville, and became President of Allegheny Casualty Company, where he began work in 1972 and retired in 2008 at the age of 74.
He was proceeded in death by his wife, Agnes (Petruso) Ritchey, of 49 years. He is survived by four sons, William (Bill) Soff and his wife Lois of Cheswick, PA., Steven Soff and his wife Georgia of McMurray, PA., John Christopher Soff and his wife Lori of Meadville, PA., and Thomas F. Ritchey, IV and his wife Linda of Cranberry Township, PA. His four sons provided Thomas with five granddaughters, Maggie (Soff) Love, Christina Soff, Sarah Soff, Ava Soff, and Victoria (Soff) Dickson, as well as 4 grandsons, Michael Soff, Thomas F. Ritchey, V, Charles Ritchey and Jacob Ritchey. He also recently became the great-grandfather of William (Liam) Love.
Thomas also leaves behind three nieces, two nephews and their loving families, from two sisters Rebecca Pizor and Marjorie Wise who proceeded him in passing as well.
Thomas was a loving and devoted father and husband, caring, hardworking and driven. He was very friendly and social, a founding member of Meadville's Elks club, very active in the S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. (Barbershoppers), the Meadville Kiwanis, and the Masonic Brotherhood, as well as various offshoots of the Masons. He will be dearly missed by those who knew him.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, August 25, 2025, from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. in ROSE AND WAID FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC., 581 CHESTNUT ST, MEADVILLE. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Terry Brown, officiating.
Burial will be in St. Brigid Cemetery, Meadville, where he will be laid to rest with his wife Agnes.
