Velma Adora Thompson

Velma Adora Thompson, 88, a resident of the Crawford County Care Center and formerly of Meadville, died Sunday, February 14, 1999 at her residence following a period of declining health.

She was born January 31, 1911 in Randolph Township, a daughter of the late Alex X. and Myrtle Smith Thompson.  She had been married to Ira Chambers.

She retired from Talon in 1959 as an inspector.  She previously worked as a switch board operator for 13 years at the former Guys Mills Telephone Co.

She attended First Baptist Church and the KJU Sunday School class.

Survivors include a sister, Vera Bartholomew of Guys Mills; a niece, Bonita A. Godsave of Corry; a nephew, Orville E. Bartholomew of Conneaut Lake and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Union Cemetery, Randolph Township.
