Violet Rosella Beougher, 96, long time resident of Sandy Lake, most recently of Greenville PA, passed away on January 16,2026 at St.Paul’s Senior Living Center. She was born in Geistown PA on October 21,1929 to parents of Harry Elmer Blough and Esther Ida (Custer)
Violet was a graduate of Richland High School, where she was second in her graduating class of 1947. She married the love of her life Earl William Beougher on August 29,1948.
Upon graduation, Vi, as she was known to all, worked in Washington DC as a file clerk/typist for the FBI. After marriage and the beginning of their family, she settled into what she loved most, the role of wife, Mother and homemaker. Once their family was raised, she would later work as a secretary at the law firm of Halliday & Halliday Attorneys at Law, Sandy Lake office until retiring in 1994.
Vi enjoyed her beautiful flower beds and canning and preserving a variety of vegetables from their large garden. She and Bill loved their home in the country where they raised their children, surrounded by nature, birds, animals, both domestic and wildlife. Many loving memories were made there with their children and grandchildren.
Vi also had a love for reading and baking. She particularly enjoyed making cookies and desserts for her family. Each family member’s birthday was made special with one of her cakes, special to each person’s favorite flavor.
Vi also loved her “REAL” country and western music with some of her favorites being Lorretta Lynn, Conway Twitty, The Statler Brothers, Hank Williams Sr and many more. Together she and Bill enjoyed traveling with his sister Dolores and her husband Ken to many states. One of the highlights was getting to see several performances by their favorite artists at the legendary Grand Ol Opry in Nashville Tennessee.
Together, Vi and Bill became an intricate part of both Sandy Lake Cub Scouts Pack 89 and Sandy Lake Boy Scout Troop 86 ,serving in various leadership roles for many years as their youngest son Jeff rose to the rank of Eagle Scout.
After Bill’s passing in 1998, Vi along with a team of family and friends raised more than $75,000 over a 22-year span for The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life, in memory of her beloved husband and so many other loved ones who battled cancer.
Left to cherish Vi’s memory are two sons, William “Danny” Beougher(Betty Doyle),of Stoneboro and Laurence “Larry “ Beougher(Debbie) of Alabama; three daughters, Beverly Thompson(Rick), of Sandy Lake, Debbie Mott(Arthur) of Franklin, Lisa Brandt(Bruce Slater)of Clarks Mills; six grandchildren, Krista Resek(Pete),Wyatt Beougher(Breanna),Amanda Karcher(Tucker),Curtis Mott, Cody Urey(Stephanie),Courtney Gelesky(Andy); twelve great grandchildren, Casey and Aiden Resek, Jillian Beougher, Lincoln and Gunner Karcher, Saniah Colon, Simeon Mott, Cash Flores, Wakefield Urey and Morgan, Raegan and Tanner Gelesky; Sister in law and brother in law Betty and Harold Johnson , sister in law Dorothy Beougher as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Vi was preceded in death by her husband ,Earl “Bill” Beougher, both her parents; a son Jeffrey Lee Beougher; siblings, Margaret Corbett, Carl Blough(Babe),Jenny Seese(Marvin),and Mary Jane Cassidy(James);a daughter in law ,Jean Black; sons in law, Rick Thompson and Arthur Mott ; her in- laws Roy Dee Beougher and Ethel Marie Murphy, and numerous brothers and sisters in law ,nieces and nephews.
Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to ROSE AND BLACK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC.99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro, where visitation will be held from 3pm to 7pm on Wednesday January 21 and 10-11am on Thursday January 22. A funeral service will follow visitation at 11am at the funeral home with Kenny Westmoreland officiating.
