Virgil M. Nichols, Jr.

Virgil Nichols, Jr., age 78, of Conneaut Lake and Spartansburg, PA, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, peacefully at home surrounded by his family, after a brave battle against cancer.

He was born on May 24, 1947, in Corry, PA, the son of Virgil Nichols Sr. and Lottie Nichols (Sutton).

He worked at Tonnard Manufacturing, Corry Jamestown Company, Ajax Iron Works, then retiring from Associated Spring in 2006 and served in the National Guard as a young man.

Virgil was a proud member of Vernon Central Hose Company and worked there as a jack of all trades after his retirement. He was known as a very handy man and could fix anything.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards with his buddies, but most of all, spending time with his family.

Virgil is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Vicki (Slemenda) Nichols, whom he shared many priceless memories and adventures with; daughter Lisa (Tom) Pustelak; son Joe (Darcy) Nichols; Grandchildren Allison (Nelson) Baird, Kristin (Evan) Dahl, Logan (Tessa) Nichols, and Jolie Nichols; and Great-grandchildren Mia, Quinn, Charlie, Nelly, and JoJo.

Virgil expressed many times how proud he was of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Siblings survived, William Powell and Lottie Jaggi; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family who loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother James (Lorraine) Powell, two sisters Nancy (Jeff) Grinder, and Doris Kreitzbender.

The family wishes to express their gratitude for the support and condolences received during this difficult time.

As per Virgil’s request, cremation was chosen and there will be no services. ARRANGEMENTS HAVE BEEN ENTRUSTED TO ROSE AND WAID FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY INC, 12422 CONNEAUT LAKE RD., CONNEAUT LAKE.
