Virginia E. Gilbert

Virginia E. Gilbert, 88, of 11695 Maplewood Road, Guys Mills died Monday, December 29, 2003 at Meadville Medical Center.

She was born in Cochranton September 8, 1915, a daughter of the late Ira and Mary Heath Cutshall.  She married Karl C. Gilbert June 8, 1940 and he survives.

She was a graduate of Cochranton High School and was a member of the United Evangelical Free Church of Guys Mills.  She was a homemaker who enjoyed knitting, crocheting, writing poetry and especially being with her family.

Survivors, in addition to her husband of 63 years, include five sons, Larry Gilbert and his wife Ellen of Santa Rosa, CA; William Gilbert and his wife Wendy of Elliot, ME; Richard Gilbert and his wife Elaine of Lake Havasu City, AZ; Robert Gilbert and his wife Barbara of Glenshaw; and Douglas Gilbert of Guys Mills; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by 6 brothers and 4 sisters.

Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

The funeral service will be Saturday at 10: 30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dale Linebaugh Interim Pastor of the United Evangelical Free Church of Guys Mills officiating.

Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Guys Mills.
