W. Robert Kline

March 17, 1912 — June 26, 2004

W. Robert Kline, 92, of Conneaut Lake, and Tulsa, OK, died Saturday, June 26, 2004 at his Conneaut Lake residence following a brief illness.  He was born March 17, 1912 in Indiana, PA the son of Warren P. and Letitia Maude Ballentine Kline.  He married Billie Ann McGrain June 10, 1944 in Indiana, PA.  She survives.

He was a member of the Calvary Presbyterian Church, Indiana.

Robert retired from the Indiana Joint High School in 1974 after 39 years of teaching.

He was a member of the National Education Assn., PA State Education Assn. and a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians.

As a magician, he received the IBM Fleming Award for the Vanishing Radio act and trick of the year award for the co-pentro act, plus many other awards.  He built his own magic props to be used with his magic and invented many items.

Robert and his wife designed and built Fairyland Forest in Conneaut Lake Park in 1960 where they had three magic acts a day for many years during the summers.

A book, the Artistic and Magical Life of Robert Kline by Bill King was written and tells of Roberts many abilities and endeavors.

He was a great patron of the arts for Conneaut Lake Park.

In addition to his wife, Billie Ann Kline of Conneaut Lake, he is survived by two daughters, Kay Dutsch (Dennis) of Broken Arrow, OK and Jana Jean (James) of Owasso, OK; a son, Kim Robert Kline of Conneaut Lake; four grandchildren, Kyle Kline, Kaitlin Kline, Autumn Cramer and Beau Cramer and a nephew, Harold Kline (Janice) of Franklin.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Kline and Richard Kline.

Services were held at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home.
