Wanda Brown

Wanda Brown, 85, of Arlington, VA, formerly of Meadville, a former teacher, died Sunday, August 23, 1992, at Powhatan Nursing Home, Arlington, following an extended illness.

She was born in Meadville, January 16, 1907, a daughter of Alton and Grace Waide Dowdell.  She married Leroy Charles Brown, February 12, 1939.  He survives.

She was a school teacher in Big Run and at Meadville High School from 1928 to 1939.  She was a graduate of Meadville High School and was a 1928 graduate of Allegheny College.  She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Carole Sue) Singer of Ridgefield, Conn,; and two cousins in the Meadville Area.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
