Wilford C. Ellis

Wilford C. Ellis, 84, of Hartstown, died Sunday, June 13, 2004 at St. Paul's Nursing Home, Greenville, PA.

He was born December 23, 1919 in Hartstown the son of Clarence and Blanche Hunter Ellis.  He married Ruth M. Hughes July 3, 1942.  She died November 7, 1999.

He was a 1938 graduate of East Fallowfield High School.

Wilford owned and operated the Ellis Farm of Hartstown for over 60 years and retired from PA Dept. of Transportation in 1982 after 20 years as a heavy equipment operator.

He was a life long member of Hartstown Presbyterian Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher and elder, a founding member of Hartstown VFD and a member of the Atlantic Grange, Crawford Co. Fire Police, West Fallowfield Township supervisor for two terms and a 20 year member of the Conneaut School board.  He enjoyed working with people to help the community.

He is survived by two sons, Jack W. Ellis (Sally) of Linesville and Gerald G. Ellis (Jean) Hartstown; two sisters, Marian Bennett of Jamestown and Mabel Thompson of Meadville; one brother, Elmer Ellis (Jean) of Hartstown; eight grandchildren, Teri Jo Ellis, Susan J. Farrell, Christopher J. Ellis, Michael Ellis, Raymond Ellis, Richard Ellis, Gerald Ellis, Jr., James Ellis and ten great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in McMichael Cemetery, East Fallowfield Township.
