Meadville

William M. Dewey “Bill” or “Dewey”, age 69, of Meadville passed away Saturday morning September 12, 2026, in Embassy of Park Avenue, Meadville.

He was born in Meadville on February 8, 1957, the son of George and Susan (Scott) Dewey.

Bill was a 1976 graduate of Meadville Area High School and had training at Hiram G. Andrew Center, Johnstown. Bill held fond memories of his MASH classmates and the long-term friendships he made in school.

He was employed at Seco Warwick and Channellock.

He attended First Presbyterian Church and was a passionate reader of novels, trivia books and had a lifelong attraction to action comic books. He was extremely familiar with the characters and storylines depicted in Marvel and DC comics and had amassed a comic book collection that numbered in the thousands. His interest in reading also inspired him to serve as a volunteer for many years at the Crawford County Read Program.

Bill enjoyed poetry and authored scores of poems that expressed his feelings about his hopes and dreams, the challenges he faced, and the people and things that brought him joy. He also loved wordplay and loved to make friends and family laugh with clever and downright silly puns of his own creation.

He is survived by his sister Isabel D. Seavey (Rick) of SC; two brothers, Scott Dewey, and his twin brother Henry Dewey (Debbie) all of Meadville; and six nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, George B. Dewey, Jr.

A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday 9-22-26 at 11:00 AM in Greendale Cemetery, 700 Randolph St. Meadville. Arrangements have been entrusted to ROSE AND WAID FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, INC., 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.
