William J. Parks

William J. Parks, 86, of Meadville, died Friday, April 2, 1976, at Smith Institute, Saegertown, after an illness of several months.

Born in Meadville, September 19, 1889, he was a son of John and Myra VanPelt Parks.  He married Selma Eggert May 6, 1913.  She died in 1960.  He was a carpenter, blacksmith, violin maker, and at one time, was a professional boxer.  A member of Meadville Masonic Lodge 408, he also was a 50-year member of Scottish Rite Bodies of Erie.

Survivors include a daughter, Ms. Shirley Parks of Meadville; a sister, Mrs. Grace Wagner of State College; two grandsons, Micheal and Scott Yacina of Meadville; a nephew, Wilfred SchuSchu, Meadville.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
